assemblages and photographs

making is a way of discovering what i could not have imagined beforehand.

i collect discarded materials and bring them together without a fixed image in mind. wood, metal, perspex and industrial fragments lose their familiar function and begin to suggest something else: a body, a machine, a gesture, or something without a name.

i am less interested in developing a recognizable style than in what an image can evoke. i look for ambiguity, psychological layers and unexpected associations. a work should not reveal everything at once, nor should it have only one possible meaning.

photography is part of the work, not merely its documentation. light, shadow, movement and background can transform a construction, making forms emerge or disappear. i often work with few elements, not because simplicity is an end in itself, but because what remains unseen can be as important as what is visible.
